Hola! My name is Patricio Gallardo Candela. I am an assistant professor at the University of California, Riverside. My mathematical interests within algebraic geometry include moduli theory and its interactions with Hodge theory and combinatorics. I am also interested in computational applications. For instance, I have co-developed software for research in algebraic geometry, and I'm part of a group that studies the mathematical structure of certain neural networks. I actively mentor students and involve them in my projects. My research is funded by the NSF grant DMS-2316749.

I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics from Stony Brook University. Afterward, I was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Georgia in Athens and at Washington University in St. Louis. You can reach me at pgallard at ucr.edu. My preferred pronouns are he/him/el.

Thirty years ago, my family crossed the desert without legal documentation in search of a better life. I thank everyone who helped them then. I thank all who help immigrants and refugees now.

Aaron Goodwin is a Ph.D. student in Mathematics at UC Riverside, working on quiver representations and their moduli space interpretation. He received his bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Anthropology from Brandeis University.
